Generali Global Corporate & Commercial launches MetaRELP, an immersive digital platform transforming Risk Engineering & Loss Prevention

  • The platform enables an unlimited amount of training scenarios for Risk Engineers in virtual environments within a wide range of occupancies insured by GC&C.

  • The platform also transforms traditional Risk Engineering & Loss Prevention loss scenarios into interactive augmented reality, making risk recommendations clearer and more actionable.

Milan - Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) has launched MetaRELP, an immersive digital platform designed to strengthen its Risk Engineering & Loss Prevention (RELP) services. The initiative reflects GC&C’s ambition to make risk communication more effective across complex industrial environments and to support better-informed prevention and client discussions.

One of the key use cases for MetaRELP is to support training and development of our Risk Engineers by providing a continuous training platform as risks change, new risks evolve, become more complex and claims occur. MetaRELP converts typical risk engineering surveys into interactive 3D walkthroughs of industrial facilities with realistic hazards, exposures and controls. All risk engineers can explore and be trained on key areas of a site, understand the relationship between hazards, exposures and controls, visualise how different risks can increase loss potential, supporting clearer dialogue between risk engineers, clients, brokers and underwriters. This strengthens technical judgement across GC&C’s international risk engineering community.

The second use case for MetaRELP is improving client awareness through immersive incident simulations via augmented reality. By showing how events such as fires, machinery failures or inadequate flood protection measures can escalate within a facility, the platform makes the impact of risk more tangible and reinforces the value of preventive action, bringing recommendations to life.

The training platform will be available to all Generali GC&C Risk Engineers, with the augmented reality (visual incidents / recommendations) being initially available in Italy and Spain.

Matthew Day, GC&C Head of Risk Engineering & Loss Prevention, commented: “MetaRELP clearly reflects our ambition to modernise Risk Engineering & Loss Prevention. As part of GC&C’s Next Level Plan 2025–27, we are investing in scalable digital solutions that support risk assessments and underwriting discussions across markets. Pragmatic and effective recommendations is key to building resilience and protecting our clients from incidents; by bridging technical training and commercial engagement, it provides a powerful tool to clearly communicate risks and effective mitigation strategies.”

The solution was developed in collaboration with Vection Technologies, selected through a partner selection process supported and scaled up as a solution by the Generali Innovation Fund. Vection Technologies’ immersive and augmented reality capabilities make it possible to digitally recreate industrial sites and simulate realistic loss scenarios, turning technical risk assessments into interactive experiences.

Gianmarco Biagi, Vection Technologies CEO & Chairman stated: “We are proud to support GC&C in launching MetaRELP, a platform that brings Risk Engineering & Loss Prevention into a new immersive dimension. Through our virtual and augmented reality technologies, we turn traditional risk surveys into interactive 3D walkthroughs, enabling the simulation of complex loss scenarios and making prevention plans clearer and more actionable. MetaRELP demonstrates the scalability and versatility of Vection Technologies’ solutions for the insurance sector, supporting continuous training for Risk Engineers and stronger dialogue between insurers, clients and brokers. I would also like to thank GC&C’s management for their trust and the Generali Innovation Fund for supporting a collaboration that turns technological innovation into tangible benefits for business and clients’ resilience.”
